die klanginstallation »rheinklänge« der stadtklangkünstlerin bonn 2013 christina kubisch bildete den abschluss ihrer residenz zum thema klangkunst und landschaft in der stadt. ausgangspunkt ihrer zweiteiligen arbeit ist die diskrepanz zwischen der visuellen und akustischen wahrnehmung des rheins: einerseits der idyllische blick in die rheinlandschaft, andererseits die lauten überquerungen und fahrwege des flusses.
rheinklänge verbindet beide seiten des flusses, sowohl über als auch unter wasser.
am rechtsrheinischen beueler ufer wird der resonanzraum unter der südbrücke durch komponierte klänge verstärkt und verwandelt. hier treffen zwei klangwelten aufeinander: vorgefundene, durch die brücke selbst verfremdete klänge, und zugefügte, fast romantisch anmutende klangflächen, die auftauchen und wieder verschwinden.
am rheinufer gegenüber, neben der schiffslandestation bundeshaus, übertragen hydrophone live die unterwasserklänge des rheins. unversehens, wie ein echo, tauchen hier klänge auf und verschwinden wieder, die denen der installation vom anderen ufer ähnlich sind. ohr und auge stoßen auf unbekannte zusammenhänge, die die wahrnehmung der landschaft erweitern und verändern.

rheinklänge, city sound artist bonn 2013 christina kubisch’s sound installation, was the final project in her residency on the topic of sound art and landscape in the city. the starting point for her two-part piece for bonn hoeren is the discrepancy between the visual and acoustic perceptions of the rhine: on the one hand the idyllic view of the rhine landscape, and the river’s noisy crossings and boat traffic routes on the other.
rheinklänge combines both sides of the river, above as well as under water.
on the right beuel bank, composed sounds amplify and transform the resonance space under the südbrücke. two sound worlds coincide here: sounds that are already present and altered by the bridge itself, and added, almost romantic sounds, that occur only to disappear again.
on the opposite bank of the rhine, next to the bundeshaus boat landing station, hydrophones broadcast a live transmission of the underwater sounds of the river. suddenly, like an echo, sounds emerge here that are similar to the ones occurring in the installation on the other bank, only to disappear again. both the ear and the eye encounter unfamiliar connections which alter and expand the perception of the landscape.
